a full uhaul
Driving south from Augusta. The last of our major purchases secured in the back of a seventeen foot U-Haul. Gavin at the wheel, rain beating on the windshield. He doesn't slow for anything. Excitement, tension, the air in the cabin of the truck is palpable. Humidity. I wouldn't be surprised to see his glasses fogged over.

The space has been gutted. Dumpsters filled, emptied, and waiting for more. As each layer is peeled back from the walls and ceiling it becomes easier to envision the transformation, to see our restaurant take shape. We are quickly learning how to ask for help and advice, and who to ask it of. We log miles and miles chasing equipment leads. Sometimes the chase is fruitless-- other times we find treasure.
We are counting the days, really the hours, until we open the doors and welcome our first guests.
